Dr. Elliott Gruen is a general psychiatrist with more than two decades of professional experience. He holds a bachelor of science in psychology from Colby College. Furthermore, Dr. Elliott Gruen completed several psychiatric rotations at the New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, and underwent family nurse practitioner training at Pace University. He also completed a residency at the University of Massachusetts, and was invited to assume the role of chief resident at the institution�s outpatient clinic.
Dr. Elliott Gruen now works for St. Mary�s Hospital�s outpatient department in an off-campus clinic. He also offers consulting services to other doctors and hospitals. Moreover, he works part-time at a private practice in Portland along with 10 therapists and another psychiatrist.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Gruen has served in a range of contexts. While at St. Mary�s, he spent time giving inpatient care in the adult, substance abuse, and adolescent units. He also spent several months as an intern at Albany Medical Center. This experience exposed him to emergency and life saving treatments, and he provided well-patient care as well. Furthermore, he worked as a psychiatric aide at Maine Medical Center, offering one-to-one therapy during evening shifts, and running group therapy.
